Standards: IS 2720 (PART XXVIII) 1966
Specification: Sand Pouring Cylinder is manufactured as per the IS 2720 (PART XXVIII) 1966 Standards. This sand pouring cylinder apparatus is basically used for the in-place determination of the dry density of the compact or natural, medium, and line grained soils. It can be used for the soils whose layers do not exceed the thickness of approx. 500 mm. This sand pouring cylinder apparatus can also be used to measure the density of the base materials. In the ground, a circular hole is dug, from which all the soil is collected and weighted, and then dried. Post which the hole is filled back with the uniform standard soil or a fine gravel, that is poured from the calibrated container to calculate the volume of the hole. This complete apparatus of the sand pouring cylinder is fitted with a shutter and conical funnel, a metal tray with the central hole, and a Cylindrical Calibration Container.
Sand apparatus is used for the in place determination of the dry density of compact, line and medium grained soils and for layers not exceeding 500mm thickness. It consists one each of Small sand pouring cylinder, 3 litre capacity fitted with conical funnel and shutter.
The Sand Pouring Cylinder from SE-Test Laboratories consists of the following:
- One 3 litres capacity small sand pouring cylinder fitted with the conical funnel and shutter.
- A cylindrical calibrating container of internal dia of 100 mm and 150 mm height, fitted with a flange.
- A metal tray of 30 cm square shaped and deep up to 4 cm with a hole in the center of 10 cm dia.
Metal tray, 300mm square and 40mm deep with hole.
Sand apparatus Medium (150mm) and Large (200mm) as per IS 2720 (P-XXVIII) also available.
